EV owners in Kerala: why solar is the neatest pairing

An EV charged from your own roof can cut running costs to almost nothing. The numbers, in plain terms.

If you drive an electric scooter or car, your electricity use has just gone up, and a rooftop system is the cheapest way to pay for it.

The numbers

A scooter driven 30 km a day uses about one unit. A car driven the same distance uses about four. Each kW of rooftop solar produces about four units a day, so a car adds roughly 1 kW to the system you would otherwise need.

Charging at night

Under net metering, daytime surplus is credited against night use. Under the newer net-billing arrangements in Kerala, ask how your credit is valued before you plan to charge entirely at night.

Always verify. Subsidy, tariff and price figures change; confirm with the official portal, KSEB / TNPDCL and a written quote.
