Part of the complete guide: Net metering (complete guide)

Reports from installers in August and September point to delays in net-meter supply in parts of Kerala. If your system is built but the meter is not, here is what helps.

1. Do not switch on illegally

Operating a grid-tied system before approval can void warranties and the subsidy. Wait for the section office to commission it.

2. Get the status in writing

Ask the KSEB section office for the application number and the expected date. Your installer should chase it weekly.

3. Keep the subsidy file moving

Upload the plant details on the PM Surya Ghar portal as soon as they are ready, so you are not waiting on two queues.

4. Write it into the contract next time

Ask the installer to state who is responsible for follow-ups and what happens if meters are late. See the KSEB application guide.

Always verify. Subsidy, tariff and price figures change; confirm with the official portal, KSEB / TNPDCL and a written quote.
