| Payback | ≈ 3.5–4.5 years |
The problem
A shop that opens at 9 am and closes after 8 pm pays commercial rates on lights, refrigeration and cooling. Almost all of the consumption happens while the sun is up.
What we designed
- A modest on-grid system sized to the shop's daytime load, so nearly every unit generated is used on site.
- Roof access arranged with the building owner and a written consent.
- A structure suited to the existing roof sheet and local wind.
The result
The energy charges on the monthly bill fell by roughly three quarters or more, while fixed charges remain. Because this is a commercial connection the central household subsidy does not apply, so payback comes from tariff savings and, where applicable, depreciation.
